TENCEL™ PROJECT
FEEL LIKE NYLON - BUT IT'S CELLULOSE FIBER
WITH THIS LIGHTWEIGHT CELLULOSE JACKET WE LAUNCH A TEXTILE INNOVATION IN 2022
The all-in-one jacket: water-repellent, windproof, keeps you warm, but not too much? What used to only work with 100% nylon is now possible with 100% organic fibers. With our new Lightweight Windstopper jacket made of cellulose, we not only bring one of the greatest innovations to the market, but also herald a new era in which highly functional, bio-based outdoor fashion begins. A big announcement for the entire industry and an absolute must for anyone who values sustainability and function.
In the textile industry it goes without saying that the perfect summer jacket must be made of 100% nylon. In spring 2022, JECKYBENG will show that there is another way. The windproof and water-repellent Lightweight Jacket (530 g) protects the wearer from sudden summer showers by using the newly developed, radically natural surface protection RUCO-DRY BIO CGR . With its minimalist design, it dispenses with superfluous decorative elements and focuses on maximum freedom of movement and breathability - whether in nature or in the city.
The new TENCEL™ Lyocell material
For the first time in history, 100% TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers have been transformed into a super light, windproof and durable high-performance material. TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers are derived from sustainable wood sources, harvested from certified and controlled sources using a closed production process.
The resulting tree fibers are first crushed and softened in a process to dissolve the cellulose into pulp. By adding heat, the remaining water is removed from the mass until the cellulose separates out again and a dope is formed. This is filtered and pressed through spinnerets and then processed into fibers in a centrifugal bath.
